Washington Protests against Political Repressions in Belarus 17:54, 17/01/2007
A regular action of solidarity with the people of Belarus was taken in Washington on 16 January. The event was held under the slogan of protest against continuous political repressions in Belarus.
The action was initiated by the "Poglyad" and "We Remember" civil initiatives.
Those gathered at the Belarusian embassy were the Belarusian diaspora and American non-government and student organizations representatives who expressed their solidarity with political prisoners and opposition movements` activists oppressed by the Lukashenko`s regime.
Inhabitants and guests of the USA capital who witnessed the action of solidarity asked the action participants about the situation in Belarus and expressed support to the action participants and to the victims of political persecution in Belarus, "We Remember" civil initiative press-service reported.
