General Kazlousky: «In my times all visits were made openly» 15:08, 24/01/2007
In the ministry of defense no detailed information was given on minister of defense of Belarus Leanid Maltsau’s visit to Iran and they categorically refused to comment on the Belarusian- Iranian memorandum on military cooperation, signed in Teheran. While commenting on the present situation to the press-center of the Charter’97 first minister of defense of independent Belarus General Pavel Kazlousky declared that when he was a minister of defense (1992-1994) all visits of the minister and his subordinates were made openly in Belarus and information about the visits was operatively transferred to the mass media.
“The situation is absolutely unclear. What are they concealing? Perhaps, when Maltsau comes back his visit will be presented with great pomp, but it was not like that in my times. Everything was open. All visits were made openly, the journalists were well timely informed. Now much is being concealed - the times are different,” declared Pavel Kazlousky.
The former minister of defense of independent Belarus declares that he has no information about the visit of Maltsau to Iran but does not deny the possibility of the agreement on technological assistance to Iran been concluded in Teheran .”Belarusians might service missile complexes supplied by Russia and assist in overhaul of outdated military devices’” supposes the former minister.
As it has already been reported the Belarusian party didn’t issue a single official message about a two-days’ visit of the military delegation headed by minister of defense Leanid Maltsau, about his meetings with his Iranian colleague Mustafa Muhammad Nadjar and President Mahmud Ahmadinejad.
According to foreign information sources, the signed memorandum envisages exchange of experts’ delegations and military and technical cooperation as well as cooperation in personnel training and continuation of the dialogue and consultations at the level of experts and ministers of both countries.
