Regional structures refuse free press distribution 15:51, 25/01/2007
In Nyasvizh (Mink region) a local department of the Minsk regional press distribution union has refused to distribute the “Nyasvizhsky chas” regional newspaper through its newspaper stalls.
“Due to economic inefficiency of the “Nyasvizhsky chas” selling,”-such reason was given, according to the monitoring service of the Belarusian association of journalists, in the letter of Tatstsyana Navosha, head of the Nyasvizh district department of the Minsk regional press distribution union of December 17.
“A recent situation around the newspaper was far from being simple, and to my mind, the situation has been under someone’s control and coordination,” Alyaksei Bely , editor of the Nyasvizhsky chas, expressed his viewpoint . “This year our newspaper’s distribution has already been refused by the “Nyasvizhsky garharchpramgandl” trade enterprise and ‘Novaye mestsa” department store. That caused the reduction of the newspaper’s circulation from 2100 issues to 1700. 250 issues were realized through “Sayuzdruk” newspaper stalls. The loss of this channel of distribution made rather a tangible impact on the newspaper.”
