«Vitebsk Kuryer M» appeals to the court
14:29, 26/01/2007

The founder of the “Vitebsk Kuryer M” non-governmental, social and political newspaper lodges a complaint to the Vitebsk Region Economic Court of Appeal today. The “Vitebsk Kuryer” editorial appeals the decision of the Vitebsk Region Economic Court, which allowed a suit of the “Elsan” enterprise to the newspaper on invalidation of the rent agreement. According to this decision, the editorial has to remove from the office, rented in the “Elsan” enterprise.

“We request to reverse the judge decision on the invalidation of the rent agreement, because it is preposterous. All regulations about local self-government demand the allowance on allocation in the town district, but such a demand is not determined by our legislation,” – the lawyer Mr. Pavel Levinau, who represents the newspaper interests, told the BAJ Press Service.

It should be reminded that the judge Ms. Volga Gatsila met the plaintiff requirements and obliged the newspaper editorial to leave the office within 10 days after the judge decision coming into legal effect on January 10. The “Vitebsk kuryer” editorial received a letter from the Ministry of Information, which demands to prove documentarily about the legal address change within two weeks on January 12.

Meanwhile, the Administration of Vitebsk Pershamayski District, refused to accept documents for registration from the newspaper founder, “as usual”.
