Ahmadinejad Goes to Belarus

Iran acclaims success of Belarus in different spheres and is ready for a close cooperation and exchange of experience, Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said at a meeting with Belarusian Foreign Minister Syarhei Martynau in Teheran, IRNA agency informs. Martynau underlined the need to expand ties between the two sides, especially in bank and customs spheres. As informational agencies inform with a reference to Iran`s Minister of Foreign Affairs Manouchehr Mottaki, an agreement has been achieved that Iran’s president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad would visit Belarus in the near future.

As said by Iranian president, his country is for independence and progress of Belarus.

President Ahmadinejad told that Iran and Belarus are two strategically important states of the world, and they should try hard to remove obstacles to the promotion of the two-way relations.

Syarhei Martynau underlined the role and position of Iran and Belarus at different regional and international levels and said Minsk is for expanded ties and cooperation with Tehran in all spheres.

He referred to energy, oil and gas in particular, agriculture, mining, common market establishment and financial exchanges through formation of multilateral monetary funds as suitable grounds for mutual cooperation.

He repeated Belarus President invitation to Ahmadinejad to visit Minsk.

Last week Belarusian Defence minister Leanid Maltsau who also visited Teheran, had a meeting with Iran’s president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
