The Belarusian and Ukrainian foreign ministries on Monday held a round of consultations to discuss a meeting between Aleksandr Lukashenko and his Ukrainian counterpart, Viktor Yushchenko, scheduled for the latter half of February.
The Belarusian delegation was led by Vasily Pugachev, first deputy minister of foreign affairs. Deputy Foreign Minister Volodymir Khandogy headed the Ukrainian delegation.
The gathering focused on the agenda of the meeting between the two countries` leaders, particularly on agreements to be signed at it, according to the press office of the Belarusian foreign ministry.
The delegations discussed "the entire spectrum of issues concerning bilateral cooperation," including political dialogue, the development of the legal framework, energy security in Europe, humanitarian cooperation, cooperation within international organizations and the CIS.
They concluded that the current level of trade and economic cooperation between the two countries "provides a basis for the further development of Belarusian-Ukrainian relations," the press office said, told BelaPAN.
