Criminal Action Brought Up Against Young Front Activists :: Charter'97 :: News

The Charter’97 press center has been warned about that by a young leader, one of the founders of the Young Front Pavel Sevyarynets. As said by Sevyarynets, today night Aleh Korban and Zmitser Fedaruk were interrogated by KGB investigators as suspects in the criminal action brought up on charges under Article 193 Part 1 – “activities on behalf on an unregistered organization”. State lawyers were present during the interrogation.

At the moment lawyers of the public human rights center Viasna ask for permission to defend Young Front activists.

On February 4 in Minsk 27 members of the youth organization the Young Front were detained during a session of the central committee of the organization in a private apartment. After 7 hours of examination all except Zmitser Fedaruk were released. In the same day Aleh Korban, an activist of the Young Front, was arrested in his apartment.

As we have informed, the leader of the Young Front Zmitser Dashkevich has been sentenced to a year and a half of imprisonment for “activities on behalf of an unregistered organization”.
