The Embassy of Venezuela is to open in Minsk in the near future. The provisional charge d’ affaires of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in Belarus Americo Dias Nunjes informed the BELTA correspondent about the fact. The opening of the embassy is envisaged in the first quarter of 2007.

According to the diplomat assertion, the level of the relationship between the countries has raised considerably. ”There are significant prospects and real conditions for expansion of economic, cultural and political relationship. Cooperation with Belarus in many fields is considered by the government of Venezuela as strategic”, stressed Americo Dias Nunjes.

As the provisional charge d’ affaires pointed out, Venezuela and Belarus have similar viewpoints on social development models and on the necessity of a multi-polar world.

February 4,2007 was the day of a ten years’ anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Venezuela and Belarus.

According to the ministry for foreign affairs the basic part of the Belarusian export has been comprised by the potash fertilizers and lorries. An official visit of the president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela Ugo Chavez to Belarus took place in June 2006. Important arrangements on building- up the strategic alliance between the two countries, on the joint implementation of projects in trade, economic and other spheres were made during the visit.
