The government of Belarus will consider non-implementation of power saving indexes as the emergency case, announced first deputy prime minister of Belarus Uladzimir Syamashka while taking the floor at the Council of ministers session.
“Under new conditions of power sources ‘supply the executives at all levels must radically change their attitude to the issue. Non-implementation of power saving indexes and actions on facilitation of energy efficiency will be considered as the emergency case”, Syamashka said, according to Interfax.
He reported “under conditions of price raise it is the most sensitive index which reflects a weak response of the economy to innovations in the sphere of energy efficiency and power savings.”
Meanwhile, V. Syamashka considers the current level of power consumption as a significant reserve for the economy. “It is our reserve, which must be employed without delay”, he stressed adding that the power consumption of the GDP of Belarus comprises 400 kg of the oil equivalent per USD 1 thousand of the GDP, which is 2.5 times higher in comparison with the European countries. With reference to the data submitted by the National Academy of Sciences the first deputy prime minister declared that the potential of power savings in Belarus totals over 20%.
