Valyantsina Svyatskaya to be at suit Yury Sivakou

Today the member of the Sojm of the Belarusian Popular Front party Valyantsina Svyatskaya has received summons of the court of Frunzenski district of Minsk. On September 5, 2006 Valyantsina Svyatskaya sent a statement to the Prosecutor’s office of Belarus by post and filed a claim for defence her honour and dignity to Frunzenski court of Minsk against General Yury Sivakou and the Association of veterans of special forces of Internal Affairs ministry troops “Honar” (“Hounour”) headed by him.

Mrs. Svyatskaya has stated that in the article “About honour” by Yury Sivakou published in the magazine “Spetsnaz” (“SWAT”), was a denigration of her honour and dignity. Mrs Svyatskaya demands 60 million rubles as compensation of moral damages.

In the article General Sivakou offered readers of the “Spetsnaz” magazine to get acquainted with the code of officer’s honour written by Adolf Hitler. The quotes from the code took about a page. General Sivakou considered that material to be interesting for many people. As he said, “though the person is notorious, it is worth thinking over many principles declared by him”.

The former Interior Minister of Belarus Yury Sivakou, who is suspected by the world community in implication in abductions and assassinations of Belarusian opposition leaders.

The trial is to take place on February 21 at 9.30 a.m. in the court of Frunzenski district of Minsk.
