Lukashenka Makes Number of Significant Statements on Cooperation of Belarus with Russia and European Union :: Charter'97 :: News

On February 6 Alyaksandr Lukashenka gave an interview to informational agency Reuters. In the interview Belarusian ruler has made a number of important statements concerning cooperation of Belarus with Russia and the European Union, Lukashenka’s press service reports.

Questions addressed to Alyaksandr Lukashenka touched upon the energy row of Belarus and the Russian Federation, about its possible aftermaths and about personal relations of the two presidents. Lukashenka has expressed a forecast of further development of Belarusian-Russian interaction. Belarusian president confirmed the intention of the country to build a union with Russia exclusively on equal terms, the press-service notes.

Lukashenka has expressed his vision of peculiarities of social and economic model of Belarus, a “secret” of economic success of the country, and its position in issues of human rights, press freedom, relations on the regime and the opposition, attitude of the society towards representatives of oppositional structures.
