Aleh Korban and Zmitser Khvedaruk Released :: Charter'97 :: News

Activists of the Young Front Zmitser Khvedaruk and Aleh Korban were released from the KGB at 7.30 p.m., Radio Svaboda informs.

The activists have submitted a written undertaking to come for interrogations when summoned by investigators. Aleh and Zmitser are suspects in a criminal case opened by the KGB on charged relating Article 193 of the Criminal Code (actions on behalf of an unregistered organization).

Zmitser Fedaruk and Aleh Korban have informed that they were kept in solitary confinements, and that food was terrible. Now the guys are to wait to 10 days, until the investigation would decide on charges.

As we have informed, 27 activists of the Young Front were detained on February 4 in the evening at a private apartment in Minsk. They were taking part in a session of the central council of the organization. The activists were detained by riot policemen. They were taken to a police department of Savetski district of Minsk. After 7 hours when reports were drawn up, all except Zmitser Fedaruk were released. On the same day Aleh Korban, an activist of the Young Front, was arrested in his apartment.
