Charhinets: Regime Could React Positively
12:48, 08/02/2007

A member of the “council of republic” of the “national assembly” Mikalay Charhinets says that the government is to consider Alyaksandr Milinkevich’s proposal to embark on a dialogue. In an interview to Polish "Gazeta Wyborcza" he said: “I know the contents of Milinkevich’s letter. If we find utility in Alyaksandr Milinkevich’s words, the government would react positively”.

Alyaksandr Milinkevich, a former candidate for presidency in Belarus in the election-2006, addressed a letter to Alyaksandr Lukashenka. Milinkevich calls upon preventing a catastrophe in the economy of Belarus and reviving good neighbourly relations with Europe.

According to A. Milinkevich, the time has come when the old approach doesn’t work any more. “We should overcome a split in the Belarusian society as soon as possible. The best way for that is a dialogue,” the politician wrote in the letter to Lukashenka.
