Kazulin: Rally on March 25 should take place on October Square or Kalinouski Square
13:15, 09/02/2007

The former candidate for presidency, a leader of the Belarusian Popular Front (Hramada) Alyaksandr Kazulin welcomes holding mass opposition rallies in Minsk and expresses support to its participants. The BelaPAN has been informed about that by the lawyer of the politician Ihar Rynkevich, who has met with his client in the colony today.

As said by I. Rynkevich, the leader of the Belarusian Social Democratic party (Hramada) welcomes holding the youth action “Belarus to Europe” on February 14. “Kazulin has told that in case repressions against young people demanding the European way of development would continue, it would be a clear sign to the West that Belarusian leadership is not going to carry out a dialogue with Europe and is slapping on the hand offered to them by the EU”.

As for the Freedom Day on March 25, A. Kazulin finds it possible to hold the rally only in one place. “It must be October Square, if the authorities authorize the rally and join the celebration, or Kalinouski Square in case such permission would not be received,” A. Kazulin stated.

As we have informed, October Squire was informally renamed by participants of protest actions on March 19-15, 2006 as Kalinouski Square.

“In case the regime would continue repressions against activists of the civil society, young people, it would finally discredit the regime,” A.Kazulin said, as his lawyer informs.
