German Ambassador Allowed to Meet with Alyaksandr Kazulin
13:56, 09/02/2007

The wife of the former candidate for presidency Iryna Kazulina informed about that on February 8 at a morning session of the European Parliament. She expressed thanks to the chairman of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Rene van der Linden for his recent visit to Belarus. She believes that the results of the visit had a positive influence. “The permission of the Belarusian authorities for German Ambassador to meet with Alyaksandr Kazulin is quite a result, though a little one,” Iryna Kazulina said.

“Besides, it is important for European officials to see events in Belarus in their own eyes. Seeing once is better than hearing twice,” she believes.

Iryna Kazulina reminded those present that it was the US that rescued the life of A. Kazulin by bringing up the question about the situation in Belarus at the session of the UN Security Council, and expressed gratitude to a representative of the US Department of State David Kramer, who was present at the session of the European Parliament.

I. Kazulina called upon deputies of the European Parliament, the world community to decisive joint actions. “We can disagree, we can be working up a strategy, but at the same time we must make steps forward, so that Belarus would not stay a hostage of one person, so that there would be no prisoners of conscience in our country,” Iryna Kazulina said.
