Presentation of the «Ploscha» documentary in New York
17:29, 19/02/2007

18 February the Belarusian youth movement of America organized Yuri Khaschevatsky’s “Ploscha” documentary presentation in the assembly hall of the St. Cyril Turov’s Cathedral in New York. The documentary dwells on the March 2006 events in Minsk, when thousands of people went out into the streets to protect their choice and their country form the fraud and total lies during the presidential election.

The letter of one of the participants of the events in Kalinousky Square in Minsk was read before the documentary presentation.

“At the night of March 21 it became clear that nobody would crush the people’s initiative. Even the snowstorm initiated by the authorities. Thus, despite of the frost and light cloths the people decided to remain and didn’t leave the square until the Monday morning. The whole night they were freezing, trying to warm up themselves, and singing but didn’t leave the square. They were warmed up by the desire to defend the truth and justice, as the majority of those present had participated in watching the election and had fixed the total fraud during the voting and had come to the square to struggle for truth, for denouncing the election results .The majority was the youth who loves Belarus and wants to live in free, democratic and wealthy country”, the Belarusian fighter for freedom shared his reminiscences of the last March’s events.

After watching the film its discussion was held and a free distribution of the DVD copies of the documentary took place.
