The editorial board of the “ARCHE” magazine received two warnings of 12 February 2007 signed by deputy minister of information Lilia Ananich on violation of the Law on press and other mass media of the Republic of Belarus. Now issuing of the unique Belarusian edition may be stopped at any moment.
Both warnings were given on one and the same occasion: issuing of the three delayed issues of Nasha Niva in one month by our editorial board after a three months’ break, Nasha Niva reports.
Warning # 29 was given to the founder of the “ARCHE- pachatak” magazine on the basis of Article 16 of the Law on press and other mass media of the Republic of Belarus for that no prior written notice had been given to the ministry for press and other mass media about changes in periodicity of the“ARCHE” magazine (it was registered as a monthly but in December three volumes (10-12) were issued) a month before for introducing the correspondent changes into a certificate on registration that means violation of Article 11 of the Law on press and other mass media of the Republic of Belarus.
Warning 30 was given to the editorial board of the “ARCHE” magazine for violation of Article 11 of the Law on press and other mass media of the Republic of Belarus. ”In compliance with conditions of registration it is a monthly edition. But in violation of conditions of its registration the editorial board issued three volumes (10-12) during one month without prior written notice to the ministry for press and other mass media on changes in periodicity. The ministry for press and other mass media gives a warning to the editorial board of the magazine on violation of Article 10 and 11 of the Law on press and other mass media of the Republic of Belarus”.
It is to be mentioned, that in September 2006 the magazine was warned on the violation of Article 11 of the Law on press and other mass media of the Republic of Belarus (for changing specialization of the ARCHE magazine by publications of socio-political character). On the basis of Article 16 of the Law on press and other mass media of the Republic of Belarus the ministry of information terminated issuing of the magazine for three months.
In December after a three months’ break three volumes of the magazine (10,11,12 were issued). If it didn’t happen the Belarusian Post Office would have cancelled the subscription and the readers would not have received their paid issues.
