Ambassador hopes that France will help Belarus-EU dialogue 18:01, 21/02/2007
Mireille Musso, the newly appointed French ambassador to Belarus, has expressed hope that France will help forge "real and fair dialogue" between Belarus and the European Union.
Belarus could play a particular role in the European family and could participate in its activities in the political, economic and cultural spheres, she said in an interview with BelaPAN.
"We wish Belarus could take full advantage of the proposed neighborhood policy," she said.
The ambassador however reiterated that Minsk should fulfill a number of conditions.
She said that the authorities should make more progress in economic reform and respect freedom of expression, press, assembly and conscience to demonstrate its commitment to the values and principles of the European family. She emphasized the need to improve the environment for business contacts and economic growth and adopt regulations that would protect business activity.
