Tarantino`s classic Pulp Fiction dubbed into Belarusian 17:59, 26/02/2007
A group of prominent Belarusian rockers, journalists and actors have dubbed Quentin Tarantino`s 1994 cult film Pulp Fiction into the Belarusian language, BelaPAN reported.
"It was not very difficult for us to translate and voice the movie," Franak Vyachorka, coordinator of the project, told reporters at a launch party in Minsk on Saturday evening. "The only problem, which I believe we successfully solved, was the translation of the abundant slang and swear words. We found more than 500 original Belarusian curses, but sometimes they were not enough."
Ringo, the character performed by Tim Roth, was voiced by Lyavon Volski, the leader of Belarus` cult folk-core band N.R.M., Jules Winnfield by rock musician Alyaksandr Pomidoroff, Marsellus Wallace by Ihar Varashkevich, the frontman of veteran rockers Krama, Mia Wallace by actress Lyudmila Shpilewskaya, and Butch Coolidge, Bruce Willis` character, by Alyaksey Yanukevich, deputy chairman of the Belarusian Popular Front.
The first movie dubbed by the group, called Belaruski Halfstrym (Belarusian Gulf Stream), was Love Actually directed by Richard Curtis of the UK. Last year the group`s also dubbed Shrek 2, a computer animated film released by DreamWorks in 2004.
Pulp Fiction in Belarusian is available on DVD. In addition, the group hopes to arrange for showings of the version at movie theaters in Minsk.
