14:01, 28/02/2007

Workers of law-enforcing agencies are checking up on several persons’ possible implication in the assassination of a journalist Veranika Charkasava, a deputy prosecutor general Viktar Prus told to journalists in Minsk.

As said by him, “there are no suspects in the assassination of Veranika Charkasava in proper sense under the laws of procedure, but there are several persons checked up on by prosecutor’s office,” Interfax informs.

He noted that the investigation of this case “is under constant supervision of the prosecutor’s office of Belarus”. “The fact that this criminal investigation is resumed from time to time, shows that there is a progress in investigation,” a deputy prosecutor general added.

A journalist Veranika Charkasava was murdered on October 20, 2004 in her apartment. The killer inflicted over 20 stab wounds.
