On March 25 Europe to Estimate Belarusian Regime’s Ability to Cooperate :: Charter'97 :: News

Europe is to form an estimate of Belarus’ ability for open cooperation with the European Union by actions of the Belarusian authorities on March 25, told ambassadors of a number of the EU countries on March 6 at a meeting with the leader of the Belarusian opposition Alyaksandr Milinkevich. As the BelaPAN has been told by the press-secretary of the Belarusian politician Pavel Mazhejka, the meeting has been organized on initiative of Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Germany to Belarus Martin Hecker.

As said by Mazhejka, Ambassadors have noted that the European public and mass media are to follow the events in Belarus. The diplomats have also informed that a number of European deputies and well-known politicians have expressed a desire to come to Belarus on March 25, A. Milinkevich’s press-secretary told.

“Among them are Mario Mauro, Vice President of the European Parliament, Ronald Pofalla, the general secretary of the Christian Democratic Union of Germany, a number of Polish MPs,” Mazhejka specified.

On March 25 at 12.00 a celebration of Freedom Day is to take place on Kalinouski Square in Minsk. In 1918 the Belarusian Popular Republic was proclaimed on that day.
