Internal Affairs Ministry: Deportation of Foreigners is Best Method 16:35, 29/03/2007
In 2006 more than 300,000 foreign citizens were nonresident aliens in Belarus which were registered in bodies of Internal Affairs Ministry of Belarus and in hotels. It was stated by a deputy head of subdivision on migration and work with foreigners and stateless persons of Citizenship and Migration Department Henadz Bubnovich at a press-conference in Minsk on March 29.
As said by him, as compared to 2005 the number of foreigners, who had chosen Belarus as a final pint of their travel, has compared by almost 50,000. However the number of crimes committed by foreigners decreased by 8.8%. As said by Henadz Bubnovich, reduction of crimes had been connected with preventive activities by Internal Affairs Ministry of Belarus. In particular, Citizenship and Migration Department has established cooperation with Penal Jurisdiction Committee: right after release from detention facilities foreign citizens are returned to their native countries.
