Bar of the Minsk City Court Annulled Sentence to Kanstantsin Lukashou :: Charter'97 :: News

3 April Bar of the Minsk city court annulled decision of the Leninsky district court of the capital which sentenced Kanstantsin Lukashou, brother of a well-known public figure Vyacheslau Siuchik to two years of probation with a two years suspended sentence. That was reported to the BelaPAN by V.Siuchik.

“Decision of the bar on the law appeal proves that there was no crime in the Lukashou’s case. By the way, there is no case itself”, V.Siuchik declared.

Lukashou’s lawyer Valyantsina Shikhantsova declared to the Balaam that at the moment she was satisfied with the bar’s decision. Now the case has been returned to the Leninsky district court for reconsideration.

It is to be mentioned, that K. Lukashou was detained on December 19, 2006 .He was accused of striking the militiamen by his car on March 29, 2006 when he was taking his brother Vyachaslau Siuchik from the surgery department of the third clinical hospital in Minsk. That day unknown persons with the IDs of militiamen tried to detain the public activist after his discharge from the hospital for disorderly conduct. But Vyachaslau Siuchik’s brother helped him to escape.

20 February Kanstantsin Lukashou was admitted guilty of the crime qualified by Clause 364 of the Criminal Code of Belarus (violence against the law enforcement body’s official on duty). The court also decided to charge Br1 million from him in favor of the aggrieved militiaman Anatol Suschena for compensating his moral and physical damage.
