Criminal action against Young Front activists taken to court
18:45, 06/04/2007

Minsk prosecutor’s office has taken the case against “Young Front” activists to the court of Savetski district of Minsk, Radio Svaboda informs. Aleh Korban, an underage Nasta Palazhanka, Zmitser Fedaruk, Alyaksei Yanusheuski and Barys Haretski are charged with participation in an unregistered organization.

As we have informed, on February 4 policemen detained 27 activists of the “Young Front” during the session of the central council of he organization. Zmitser Fedaruk and Aleh Korban were kept in a remand prison for three days. They were released after they had submitted a written undertaking to come to interrogations. The list of suspects was soon expanded by the KGB. On March 29 Nasta Palazhanka, Alyaksei Yanusheuski, Aleh Korban, Zmitser Fedaruk, and Barys Haretski were charged with implication in the criminal case. Young people were hurried to get acquainted with the materials of the case. Barys Haretski was taken from the remand prison in Akrestsin Street to the office of the investigator Syarhei Hrakhouski. The investigator dismissed a motion of lawyers who asked more time for work with materials of the case.

Lawyers of the “Young Front” believe that on the next week the date of the court session and names of the judge are to become known.

Earlier courts over activists of the “Partnerstva” and the “Young Front” on charges related to participation in an unregistered organization were held behind closed doors.
