This indifferent official announcement was made by Nalallia Paspelava, director of the Minsk national center for adoption on Friday evening, the Italian “La Repubblica” newspaper writes ”. The Hague Convention on the Juvenile Rights signed and ratified by Belarus in 2003 says that the child received into the family of his compatriots or into the family outside his country can’t become the object of adoption. On suggestion of the BNF Party the Chernobyl Way’s organizing committee started collecting books, toys, clothes, audio and video output etc. as well as money for the children suffering cancer diseases. ”There is a real epidemic of oncology diseases in Belarus but the doctors are prohibited to associate this cancer boom with Chernobyl. Another letter has been received from a human rights activist Katsyaryna Sadouskaya who is serving the sentence in Homel women colony. The human rights activist writes that a new group of women has been taken to the colony. Some prisoners have to sleep in a corridor, as there are no enough sleeping places in the wards. Besides, Katsyaryna informs she is not given insulin which is necessary for her.

The issue of possible privatization of oil refineries has been put under discussion in Belarus after a several years’ break when this subject was not touched upon. The resumption of the discussion itself supposes probable changes to take place in Minsk where no discussion of strategic enterprises selling had ever been admitted before. “The negotiations on privatization of oil refineries with supposed participation of the Russian business is assumed to take place in the coming months”, head of the Belarusian analytical center “Strategia” Leanid Zaiika told in his interview with the “Vremya Novostey” newspaper yesterday.

Russia has not yet decided to extend a stabilization loan to Belarus, Economy Minister German Gref told journalists today, adding that the parties were currently in talks over the issue. He said that Belarus had asked for $1.5bn, but the sum could be curbed to $1bn.

An April session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe will focus among other issues on democratic processes in Belarus, a spokesman for the council of Europe said Friday. The spokesman said that leaders from the Belarusian political opposition, Alexander Milinkevich and Anatoly Lebedko, were invited to take part in the session scheduled for April 16-20.
