Human rights activist Katsyaryna Sadouskaya not given insulin
14:53, 09/04/2007

Another letter has been received from a human rights activist Katsyaryna Sadouskaya who is serving the sentence in Homel women colony. The human rights activist writes that a new group of women has been taken to the colony. Some prisoners have to sleep in a corridor, as there are no enough sleeping places in the wards. Besides, Katsyaryna informs she is not given insulin which is necessary for her.

Sadouskaya writes that there are many elderly women among the convicts, including women older than 70. Physically it is hard to them to get to the top of two-tier beds. There are other problems, including the shortage of exported medicines.

“She writes that there are not enough medicines. Insulin has been substituted by medicines made in Belarus, and now she has problems with her feet. All prisoners are treated only by Belarusian medications, they are not given foreign drugs at all,” K. Sadouskaya’s husband said to Radio Svaboda.
