Pavel Sevyarynets’s Mother Fired from Work

Tatsyana Sevyarynets, the mother of a political prisoner Paval Sevyarynets, is to be dismissed from a secondary school No. 40 in Vitsebsk, where she had been working for many years as a teacher of Russian language and literature. The head of the education department of Pershamajski district Uladzimer Shloma states that the woman had taken leave at her own cost without authorization, though previously he had allowed her to take a leave for a few days.

Pickets of Opposition Banned in Grodno

Activists of the United Civil Party have been refused of arranging the pickets in Grodno. Members of the Grodno regional organization of the United Civil Party were to hold a number of pickets over the period from 15 April till 1 May .The pickets were aimed at introducing several documents including the Program of the Grodno Region Development to the people as well as at continuing gathering signatures under the Conception of Free Development of Entrepreneurship in the Republic of Belarus, the press service of the party informed.

Beating of Kazulin to be investigated by Minsk Public Prosecutor

6 April Aleg Volchak, head of the legal service of former candidate to the presidency of Belarus, political prisoner Alyaksandr Kazulin, and the policymaker’s daughter Yulia Kazulina lodged the claim in the name of the Minsk public prosecutor Mikalai Kulik. Aleg Volchak and Yulia Kazulina demand annulling of the decision of the public prosecutor’s office of the Moskovsky district of Minsk dated 25 April 2006 on refusal of bringing the criminal lawsuit against the “Almaz” special regiment staff who bit Alyakandr Kazulin 2 March 2006 when he attempted to attend the so-called Pan-Belarusian Meeting summoned by Alyaksandr Lukashenka.

Organizational Committee of Chernobyl Way Addresses Belarusian People

The organizational committee on holding Chernobyl Way rally has addressed the nation on the occasion of the 21st anniversary of the catastrophe at Chernobyl nuclear power station. The application for authorization of the action has been already submitted to Minsk city executive committee. The organizers plan to start the rally at 6 p.m. in Iakub Kolas. Then the procession will go along the Independence Avenue to the national library, where a meeting will take place.

9 April Gomel activists of the democratic forces submitted an application to the city executive committee for holding the picket on 26 April. As one of the picket initiators, member of the Party of Communists Belarusian Maria Bagdanovich reported to the BelaPAN the activists intend to protest against building of the Atomic Power Station in Belarus, to attract the public attention to the problems related to the disaster at the Chernobyl Atomic Power Station.

Talking about Victims of Stalin’s Repressions Prohibited in Writers’ House

Members of the organizing committee on commemoration of the victims of Stalin’s repressions were not allowed to hold their meeting in the Writers’ House. Co-chairman of the organizing committee writer Vasil Yakavenka arranged a couple of days before holding of the regular meeting at the Literary Fund office in the Writers’ House but when the members of the organizing committee gathered for a meeting it so happened that the key to the room was not available. Then the guard forced them out of the building.

Dzyanis Dzyanisau Celebrates Birthday in Remand Prison

On 5 April 2007 the Presidium of the “Belkhim” Trade Union Organization Committee at the Production Association “Belaruskaliy” decided to withdraw its application to hold the meeting of protest scheduled on 10 April at the “Stroitel” stadium in Soligorsk. The date of action is rescheduled because the House of Representatives postponed consideration of the draft Law “On Professional Pension Insurance” against which the miners were going to protest.

Andrei Klimau has spent week in remand prison

On April 3 an opposition leader Andrei Klimau was arrested in Minsk. For publishing on the web and article the politician in charged with violation article 361 Part 3 of the Criminal Code of Belarus (appeals to overthrow or change of he constitutional regime of Belarus committed with the use of mass media). At the moment Andrei Klimau stays in the remand prison in Valadarski Street in Minsk. He faces a sentence from 1 to 5 years of imprisonment.

Court adjourn New Life Church case without day

On April 5 a statement of the Supreme Economic Court of Belarus was received by New Life charismatic church. The document reads that the case of the church community is suspended. It means that the next session of the court is adjourned without day.

Gazprom Can Speed up Construction of New Pipe Line

Gazprom can expedite construction of a ground part of the pipeline Nord Stream which is to convey oil from Russia to Germany under the North Sea. It is connected with the fact that in 2009 demand for large-diameter pipes in Russia would reach the peak level, and Russian manufacturers could be unable to meet demands of the gas concern. Analysts think that rescheduling works for an earlier term would allow Gazprom to make the project cheaper, as price of pipes is growing quickly. Besides, the earlier the Nord Stream would be put into operation the earlier the possibility to cut down transit via Belarus and Poland would appear, “RBK daily” writes.

Pay attention that on the screen-shot you see an unusual address in the address line. It is the way with the help of which the text on the ONT page was placed. If desired, any symbols and any text could be placed there,” the expert believes.
