Flash-Mob in Minsk against Atomic Power Plant Building 13:41, 10/04/2007
Flash-mob against atomic power plant building in Belarus without public discussion took place in Minsk 9 April evening.
At 7.30 p.m. 10 young people gathered at the Belarusian State Circus building, put on inhalers and bands with a radiation danger sign. They carried “Belarus without APP “ street banner. In several minutes the action participants rolled up the banner and marched towards the Victory Square, where they distributed 200 leaflets among the passers-by. Headlined ” Without APP!” the leaflets contained statements of ambassador of France in Belarus Mireille Musso, director of the Republican Scientific-Practical Center of Radioactive Medicine and Human Ecology Eleonora Kapitonova, corresponding member of the National Academy of Sciences Ivan Nikitchenko, doctor of technical sciences professor Grigory Lepin.
According to the quoted opinion of M. Musso “Belarusians suffered considerably from the Chernobyl atomic power plant breakdown and have been surviving its consequences since then” that is why “it is necessary to ask the opinion of the Belarusian citizens concerning the atomic power plant construction and offer alternative power resources”.
