Court to continue hearing of Left parties’ appeal on April 13
18:18, 10/04/2007

According to the chairman of the party of the Communists of Belarus Syarhei Kalyakin, on April 10 Justice Ministry failed to give the Supreme Court facts in support their decision to deny registration to the Union of Left parties.

As Radio Racyja was told by Syarhei Kalyakin, the court obliged Justice Ministry to give a full text of the court ruling on state registration denial to the Union of left parties. For now neither judge, nor plaintiff, nor representative of Justice Ministry have the text of the document.

“As it turned out, there is only a letter explaining reasons of registration denial. There is also extract from Justice Ministry panel of judges stating that the Union of Left Parties has been denied registration, without explaining why,” the politician said.

As we have informed, Justice Ministry denied registration to the Union of Left Parties because the constituent congress was held in the Ukrainian city of Chernihiv. According to the registering authority, political parties in Belarus could act only on the territory of out country. However, according to Kalyakin, the court room representative of Justice Ministry confirmed that parties can carry out activities outside Belarus. The politician asked to give him the article of the law which ban such activities to the parties.
