Court Refused to Punish Policemen 13:07, 10/04/2007
The court of Leninski district of Mahilyou has ruled that actions of policemen against public activists Alyaksandr Karalyou, Iryan Kacharava, Alyaksei Paulouski and Yury Darashenka were legal, Radio Svaboda informs.
As we have informed, the four public activists filed a charge against workers of Mahilyou state traffic police. On December 16 they wanted to go Chernihiv via Minsk. 10 kilometres before Byalynichy a traffic policeman Uladzimir Stelmakhau stopped the mini bus where activists were travelling, and referring to invalidity of documents of the driver ordered him to go back to Mahilyou.
Activists charged policemen with an attempt to thwart their visit to the statute conference of the Union of Left parties of Belarus. Actions of policemen are considered as violation of constitutional rights by the activists.
