Dzyanis Dzyanisau Still Stays in Remand Prison 13:05, 11/04/2007
A Vitsebsk-based civil activist Dzyanis Dzyanisau is still staying in Vitsebsk remand prison No.2 despite of standing a bail of 15 million rubles for him.
As Radio Racyja informs, money has been collected all over the country. The bail was posted on the eve of Dzyanisau’s birthday, March 9. His family, friends and fellow activists hoped that the activist charged with group actions violating public order, is to get a possibility to celebrate his birthday at large. It hasn’t happened. In general, according to a human rights activist Leanid Svetsik, on Tuesday an investigator Novikau didn’t asked for the documents on Dzyanisau’s case from the prosecutor of the region.
The term of detention of the suspect in the remand prison is to end on April 16. In any case the prosecutor’s office is to decide whether to release Dzyanisau with a written undertaking not to leave the place, or to extend the term of arrest.
