10 days have passed since the oppositional leader Andrei Klimau’s arrest. An investigator of Minsk city prosecutor’s office Anatol Hadun told to Radio Svaboda that preliminary investigation continues. “Everything is proceeding according to investigation plan,” Anatol Hadun said. However, he hadn’t told what actions are carried out.

Belarusians Demanding Renaming of Suvorau’s Military School

A group of Belarusian citizens initiated renaming of the Suvorau’s Military School in Minsk into the Military School after Kastus Astrozhsky. Collection of signatures has been initiated for giving the name of the outstanding Belarusian military leader to the Military School.

Young Front’s Activists to be judged by Alyaksei Tamanau

Belarusian MFA does not know whom to join

Deputy minister for foreign affairs of Belarus Vasyl Pugachou informed the deputies of lower chamber of the “parliament” of Belarus that last year the country managed to consolidate its international positions and internal potential despite pressure from the West. He also called the Non-Alignment Movement “the major channel of promoting its interests under conditions of restricting policy of the West”. The MFA declarations contradict yesterday’s declarations of Alyaksandr Lukashenka.

Belarusians have learnt lots of new information,” told Charter’97 coordinator Zmitser Bandarenka commenting the press-conference of Alyaksandr Lukashenka held in Minsk yesterday.

The Belarusian Popular Front Youth has marked Cosmonautics Day. First the rally was planned on the ground near the entrance to Kamarouski market. But at 6 p.m. that place was cordoned off by policemen. A decision was made to hold the rally in another place, near the entrance to “Impuls” shopping center.

Baranavichy Authorities Disrupt Celebration of 20th Anniversary of Polish Public School

The Polish public school of Baranavichy will celebrate its 20th anniversary in a small hall of an officially closed building, not in the local Culture Palace, as they intended. According to the founder and the director of the school Alzhbeta Dalenha-Vzhosek, the school rented the hall of the local Culture Palace for the celebration as about 100 guests from Belarus and Poland were to attend the event. However, a week before the celebration the administration of the Culture House annulled the rent agreement. The local Polish minority says that the local authorities disliked the idea of public celebration of the jubilee.

Matskevich: Unpredicted questions disconcert Lukashenka

The administrative pressure exerted upon Gomel activist Mikalai Kalyuka resulted in his recalling the signature under the application for a picket, which is to be held in Gomel 26 April. Opposition Agreed about the Congress

During the conference “Positive Alternative for Belarus and its Citizens” which is held in Vilnius under the aegis of the Council of Europe the leaders of opposition found a compromise on the issue of the Congress of Democratic Forces. It was decided to hold the Congress of Democratic Forces by the end of spring. The membership of the Congress is to be extended by the delegates of the First Congress and outstanding figures. The authorities of the delegates elected by means of collecting signatures will be checked by a special commission, the Nasha Niva reports.

Milinkevich visiting St.Petersburg
