No Access to BT for Alyaksandr Milinkevich. No Chernobyl Problem for Zimousky Anymore 13:13, 14/04/2007
The Belarusian first TV channel refused its direct line to Alyaksandr Milinkevich 25 April; the Interfax was reported at the TV channel. 6 April Alyaksandr Milinkevich appealed in written form to chairman of the national state TV company Alyaksandr Zimousky for the direct line for him and “representatives of experts and liquidators” 25 April at 6 p.m. for ”giving an independent assessment of the state bodies’ activities on overcoming consequences of the Chernobyl disaster”.
The oppositional policymaker announced his intention “to tell the truth about purposeful hushing up by the authorities” problems of the liquidators and people who ”have to use foodstuffs from the contaminated territories owing to the authorities’ policy”.
In his appeal Milinkevich also pointed out that the authorities’ policy doesn’t allow to receive the international support for minimization of consequences of the Chernobyl disaster” and demanded “to cease repressions against democratic activists”.
The policymaker paid special attention to the fact that the decision-making on his issue “does not require any additional research and investigations: and mentioned that the answer was to be given “no later than within 15 days”. Chairman of the national state TV company Alyaksandr Zimousky when replying to the appeal said that “the first Channel as well the “Lad” and “Belarus- TV” channels will traditionally broadcast programs on the Chernobyl disaster and on how Belarus struggles on its own against the consequences of the global technological disaster”. ”It is clear that Belarusian as well as foreign participants of the liquidation of consequences of the disaster at the Chernobyl Atomic Power Plant are going to take part in the programs”, the reply runs.
