On April 21-25 the chairman of the Political council of the democratic forces of Belarus Alyaksandr Milinkevich is to carry out a voyage over the regions of the country affected after the Chernobyl nuclear power plant catastrophe. On April 21 Alayksandr Milinkevich is to visit Luninets and Stolin districts of Brest region, on April 22 Mozyr and Mozyr district, on April 23 Khojniki and Brahin districts, Brahin and Homel, on April 24-25 Slauharad and Cherykau districts of Mahilyou region.
20 April flash mob to support Andrei Klimau was held in Minsk. At 10.15 a.m. around a dozen of young people gathered in Yakub Kolas Square and marched to the “Impuls” shopping center where they stood up in chain carrying portraits of the arrested policymaker. After 10 minutes standing the action participants started distributing leaflets with Klimau’s biography among the passers-by.

Later, head of the Grodna regional customs office Yuri Syanko declared that the powder was amphetamine. A. Lisousky was suspected of drug trafficking.

Reporters Without Borders today condemned the arrest of writer and political activist Andrei Kilmau on 3 April on a charge of "inciting the regime`s overthrow" in an article posted on the Internet in which he was very critical of President Lukashenko and looked at options for changing the political system in Belarus. The organisation is also concerned about a parliamentary committee`s bill that could require all online publications to register.

The organising committee of “Charnobylski Shlyakh” rally is set to challenge the decision of Minsk city executive committee. The ministry of finance foresees additional expenses of the republican budget for provision of subsidies to decrease the oil prices delivered to Belarus. That has been reported today to the journalists at the pres-conference by head of chief department of the budget policy of the ministry of finance Maksim Yarmalovich. Since 2008 Belarus plans to import crude oil via Lithuanian terminals, Belarusian Ambassador to Lithuania on Thursday, Reuters informs. “We are discussing possibilities of crude oil import from Venezuela and Iran, it means that we study a possibility to use oil terminals of Butinge and Klaipedos,” Uladzimir Drazhyn said. He said that import of crude oil via Lithuania could make up to 7 million tons a year, it means one third of Belarus’ wants. First deliveries could start in 2008, though the final solution hasn’t been reached.
