Spring Activation of Hackers’ Disease 17:50, 20/04/2007
In the run-up to large political actions activities of hackers in the Belarusian segment of the web increases considerably. Over the recent week the server of the Charter’97 site have been attacked by unknown criminals. An attempt is made to feel for vulnerable spots, and first of all to find a password for SSH for different users. Thos way is one of the most effective and widely used. According to our estimation, the intensity is about 10,000 attempts a day, which shows the seriousness of the attackers’ intentions.
Most likely, a so-called distributed network of infected zombie computers. Such an attack is considered expensive and head-on attack, on the other hand, this way of blocking unwanted information on the web is rather cheap as compared with the expenses for complete Belarus’ cutting off from the web.
