OTCS is afraid of NATO and revolutions
14:55, 20/04/2007

According to General Secretary of the Organization of the Treaty on Collective Security Nikolai Borduzha, among the serious threats facing the post-soviet countries is export of revolutions. “It is not only Afghanistan that worries all the post-soviet countries. There is also the problem of export of revolutions, the problem of attempts of their elements’ unnatural intrusion”, he said at the session ”Eurasia: questions and answers on the regional security” of the Eurasian media forum on Thursday in Alma-Ata.

“And we see them. There are familiar people, revolution exporters, the so-called modern revolutionaries – on the post-soviet area -Che Gevarra of the new age”, N. Borduzha remarked.

He also continued, that the threat of renewed conflicts, especially, at the Caucasus, threat of destabilization of the situation in the Central Asia worry all the post-soviet area, the Interfax reports.

Furthermore, N. Borduzha remarked, the fact that military infrastructure is being restored, new military bases are being set up, antimissile components appear around the OTCS countries also aggravates the situation in the region.

“They are not set up as artistic masterpieces, but they are designated for specific tasks. And these tasks may appear today or in several years or months. So, they are the sword of Damocles, which has been raised over these states. And we do not know when it may to be dropped “, N.Borduzha said.

Meanwhile, when answering the session moderator’s question if Moscow was playing “a big game” in the Central Asian region, if it is protecting its own interests, N. Borduzha remarked “I would like Moscow to play this game, because it is not always effective in protecting its own interests”.

He also stressed that “not a single issue on the Central Asia and on the regions of the former post-soviet area can’t be solved without participation of the higher political elite of the sovereign states or without their agreement”. “And it is rather difficult to exert pressure upon these states. And usually it doesn’t give positive results”, the General Secretary of the OTCS remarked.
