Model Business Managers Sentenced to Imprisonment :: Charter'97 :: News

On April 23 a trial over top managers of model agencies of Minsk, Homel, Vitsebsk and Polatsk finished in Minsk city court. They were charged with trafficking Belarusian girls to rich countries of the East for prostitution. Ten persons were standing trial, Radio Svaboda informs. They are directors of agencies “Zara”, “Grace”, “Medison” and others. They have been sentenced to terms from 8 to 12 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property and paying large compensations to the victims.

For instance, the accused Kira Ataeva, charged with creation of a criminal organization, is to pay more than 1 billion 800 million rubles to the state.

However, observers note that it was a trial behind the closed doors. According to statements of some accused, nobody forced the victims to prostitute abroad.

Girls had been allegedly invited for escort services for rich Arabs, and beautiful girls were queuing to get this job. According to investigation, there were underage between the victims.
