Charnobylski Shlyakh Applicants at law with Minsk Authorities 16:06, 23/04/2007
Today applicants for holding the rally Charnobylski Shlyakh (“The Path of Chernobyl”) Alyaksei Yanukevich, Anatol Sidarevich, Yury Zenkovich and Valyantsina Palevikova have filed a complaint to the court of Maskouski district of Minsk for the ruling of Minsk city executive committee. The Charter’97 press-center has been informed about that by the deputy chairman of the Belarusian Popular Front party Alyaksei Yanukevich. As we have informed, organizers had submitted an application to Minsk city executive committee with a request to sanction a rally “Charnobylski Shlyakh” on April 26 at 6 p.m. in Yakub Kolas Square.
However, Minsk city executive committee sanctioned holing Charnobylski Shlyakh from the Academy of Science to Bangalore Square. Applicants believe that by this ruling Minsk city executive committee violated article No.6 of the law on mass rallies, as the ruling has been adopted without being advised with the applicants.
“We find this decision illegal, and the practice of Minsk executive committee’s acting not in the interest of Minsk dwellers, but in the interests of the authorities of the country, is annoying and intolerable. By all available means we are to struggle for a possibility for people to realize their constitutional rights and hold rallies in the center of the city,” told Alyaksei Yanukevich to the Charter’97 press-center.
Ortganizers are set to come to Yakub Kolas Square on April 26 at 6 p.m., and to lead people to the authorized place of gathering then.
