Lukashenka to deliver annual address to legislature on April 24 12:30, 24/04/2007
Alyaksandr Lukashenka will deliver his annual presidential address to the National Assembly and the Belarusian nation at a joint meeting of both parliamentary chambers on April 24, the press office of the Belarusian leader announced on Monday.
Also in attendance will be top-ranking members of the Presidential Administration and the Council of Ministers, the heads of large industrial enterprises and banks, the leaders of non-governmental organizations, the rectors of leading higher educational institutions, and foreign diplomats.
Belarus` major television channels and the First National Channel of Belarusian Radio are to start broadcasting live Mr. Lukashenka`s address at noon.
Annual presidential addresses to the national legislature are provided for by the constitution. Mr. Lukashenka`s address traditionally focuses on the country`s social, economic and political development priorities for the next 12 months.
