Belarus is introducing licensing procedures for imported Ukraine-made caramel products. The decision is laid down by the Council of Ministers’ resolution No. 538. According to the document, in order to import caramel products to Belarus, juridical and natural persons as well as individual entrepreneurs need import licenses issued by the Trade Ministry in accordance with regulations on licensing of foreign trade in certain commodities.
BelTA learnt from the Trade Ministry, the Ministry will execute this resolution, which will be in effect until the investigation for antidumping measures against Ukrainian caramel imports to Belarus is over.
Let us remind you that in late December 2006 Belarusian food industry concern Belgospischeprom requested the Foreign Ministry to take antidumping measures against imported Ukrainian caramel citing dumping prices. An antidumping probe was launched following the complaint.
At present Belarus is carrying out investigations prior to launching reciprocal measures against certain imported Ukrainian goods, namely artificial fur, pile fabric and caramel. As far as Ukraine is concerned, the country is carrying out six antidumping investigations (artificial fur, pile fabrics, fibreboards, roofing felt, matches, compressors), three investigations (tyres, cotton fabrics, luminescent lamps) and two revisions (artificial fur and pile fabrics).
