Application for holding congress of democratic forces filed to Minsk city executive committee 18:09, 07/05/2007
An application for holding a congress of democratic forces in Minsk on May 26-27 has been filed to Minsk city executive committee. It has been told on May 7 at a press-conference in Minsk by Alyaksandr Bukhvostau, a representative of the organizational committee for holding the Congress of Democratic Forces.
Organizers have also sent letters with a request for premises for holding the congress to three organizations which have necessary conditions. They are the Palace of Republic, a concert hall “Minsk” and the Palace of Culture of Minsk Automobile plant. Besides, a letter has been sent to the presidential administration with a request to sanction holding the Congress of Democratic Forces, as, according to Bukhvostau, “such events are not held without consent of the highest authorities of the country”. The organizers of the congress ask to give an answer before May 16, so that various problems could be solved before the beginning of the Congress.
