Position of the Belarusian media and protection of journalists, discharge of political prisoners and actions for their protection, programs of the repressed youth support and employment of people fired for political reasons became the main subjects of today’s meetings of leader of the democratic forces of Belarus Alyaksandr Milinkevich in Great Britain.
When attending the British parliament the leader of the democratic forces of Belarus had the talks with head of the commission for foreign affairs of the ruling Labor Party Eric Joyce. Politicians discussed programs of support of the civil society, Belarusian mass media and politically repressed in Belarus. One of the major subjects was cooperation between the European Union and Belarus based on conditions of the European commission.
“I applied to Mr.Eric Joyce with a request to become an envoy of the Belarusian democratic forces in Great Britain. It is important that the Belarusian subject should not miss the attention of European politicians and journalists”, Alyaksandr Milinkevich remarked.
When meeting the top management of international organization for protection of freedom of mass media “ARTICLE 19”the policymaker concentrated attention at the position of the Belarusian mass media and protection of journalists’ rights. The joint television, radio and press programs of the Belarusian mass media support were discussed.
When visiting the office of the international organization for human rights protection “Amnesty International” Alyaksandr Milinkevich discussed the issues of defense of political prisoners in our country.
”The Amnesty International considers activities for support of the Belarusian political prisoners among its priorities. After establishing the committee ”For Protection of Zmitser Dashkevich ” the Amnesty International has started the letter-action for defense of Zmitser Dashkevich and considers it to be one of the greatest actions ”, leader of the democratic forces of Belarus emphasized.
