Young activists to hold cooperative labour instead of protest action 17:11, 17/05/2007
Representatives of youth organizations who had been prohibited to hold a meeting against repeal of benefits to students has decided to change the form of the action. As Radio Svaboda informs, they want to clean the Park of Nations’ Friendship.
The leader of the Belarusian Popular Front youth branch, Moladz BPF, Ales Kalita, told at a press-conference today that initiators of the action offer to carry out “talaka” (cooperative works) of students and pupils in the Part of Nations’ Friendship. They have addressed the deputy chairman of Minks city executive committee M. Myatlitski with this proposal today.
The clean –up is planned for May 20 at 5 p.m.
Minsk city executive committee hasn’t allowed young activists to stage a meeting against repeal of benefits.
It was stated in the official answer that a clean-up of the territory and repairing of park equipment are planned on the same day in the Park of Nations’ Friendship.
