In Washington Activists Demands Freedom to Belarusian Political Prisoners (Photo)

On May 16 an action of solidarity with Belarusian political prisoners, abducted oppositionists, with all who struggle for freedom and democracy in Belarus, was held in Washington. The action was organized by an initiative “We Remember” and organization “Pohlyad”.

Students from Belarus studying in the US, American students, representative of Belarusian expatriates in Washington, tourists from Belarus, students from the Czech republic and Slovakia and many others have taken part in the rally.

Participants of the action were holding portraits of Belarusian political prisoners, white-red-white flags, posters with slogans “Release political prisoners immediately!”, “Abducted and assassinated in Belarus”, Lukashenka. You cannot hide the future of Belarus in prison”, “Honk in support of democracy in Belarus”, “Free Kazulin”.

Many Washington dwellers who passed by asked questions about the protest, the situation in Belarus, relations between Belarus and Russia, and expressed support to all who fight for democracy in Belarus. Numerous drivers and passers-by reacted to the action. Drivers honked, showed friendly gestures, and passers-by expressed their interest to the event.

Participants of the rally plan the next action on June 16.
