No specifics about Lukashenka and Ahmadinejad’s talks 17:59, 21/05/2007
A meeting of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Belarusian leader Alyaksandr Lukashenka has taken place in Minsk today. After bilateral talks is was stated that Belarus and Iran find it necessary to develop cooperation in different sectors of oil and gas industry. It is not informed about specific new projects which could be discussed in Minsk by leaders of the two countries, however a large communiqué summing up the results of the talks has been issued.
Belarus and Iran intend to cooperate in the oil and gas production, in setting up oil fineries, in exploring oil and gas fields and in building underground gas storage facilities in Iran, says a joint communique signed by President of Iran Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko in Minsk.
The sides expressed satisfaction with the cooperation agreements related to the exploration of the oilfield Jofeir in Iran. The presidents praised the expansion of the Belarusian-Iranian exchange of technical and engineering services and underlined the importance of the joint projects on building a CHP plant and a hydroelectric power station, industrial companies to produce petrochemical, medical and other goods and equipment in Belarus.
Belarus and Iran are ready to expand considerably the industrial-technological cooperation, in particular in setting up machine-building joint ventures.
The Presidents deem it necessary to provide assistance to Iranian and Belarusian businessmen and to create a basis for joint participation in projects implemented in third countries.
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Alexander Lukashenko also deem it necessary to promote cooperation in education and culture.
The Presidents also voiced their support for the promotion of the interparliamentary cooperation.
