On June 1 in the morning Barysau orphan asylum of regional education department was visited by members of Barysau youth center “Volat” by the Belarusian Language Society.
One of the activists of the organization, Andrei Babitski, inflamed guys with an idea to collect their toys and give them a second life, to present them to children who are lacking family and its warmth and comfort. In addition to toys, a real surprise was prepared to 12 children form the orphan asylum. Mickey Mouse came to them, and a huge show was organized. Children and their caregivers were dancing, playing outdoor games, answered questions in guess games. Each participant of the improvised party received souvenirs and presents from Mickey Mouse.
Despite of all the problems in their lives, children who were placed to the orphanage from difficult families, started to smile and looked joyful. Teachers and caretakers of the orphanage expressed gratitude to children from “Volat” for their noble idea.
“Children are our future, and we should remember about that always,” told Andrei Babitski, expressing the opinion of his friends.
Children aged from 3 to 15 live in the orphanage. Social care, psychological and educational assistance are provided for them. They study in the secondary school No. 12 in Barysau, are members of many hobby groups. Every week for half a year a council of psychologist and counselors work with children’s parents.
As said by the psychologist of the asylum Maryna Homan, up to 80% of children living in the asylum return to their nearest families or to their relatives. Every month for a year after administration of the asylum checks the situation of a child its family.
Children get good food, clothes in the asylum. They have different pastimes; they play sports and can study handicraft and arts. In summer they go to summer camps. Still the administration of Barysau orphan asylum hopes that all children would be adopted by good families who are not indifferent to lives of little citizens of Belarus.
