Expulsion of Belarus from the “black list” of the UNO Council on Human Rights completely undermines the UNO authority”, considers leader of the “For Freedom Movement", former president candidate of Belarus Alyaksandr Milinkevich declared.
“ Even before that the UNO had the restricted opportunities especially in the sphere of human rights’ observance and such resolutions completely discredit the UNO in this sphere. Moreover, it is a great blow against the struggle for human rights protection conducted by the democratic forces here“, Alyaksandr Milinkevich said in his interview to the BelaPAN.
According to the policymaker the Belarusians will still be allowed to appeal to the UNO Council on Human Rights but the efficiency of these appeals is going to decrease many times. Moreover, it is a great blow as the UNO is popular among the Belarusians as an independent, honest and authoritative organization. Now this resolution of the UNO Council on Human Rights will be used as a propagandistic tool”, Alyaksandr Milinkevich considers. The UNO Council has become an impotent structure unable of effective monitoring of human rights observance in troubleshooting countries”, the policymaker summed up.
Leader of the BNF Party Vintsuk Vyachorka, the international activities coordinator in the united democratic forces of Belarus, regrets the liquidation of the mandate of a special speaker on Belarus Adrian Severin. ”That competent, professional and courageous man is a great expert in dealing with the dictatorship regimes”, V.
