Lukashenka to Chavez: don’t frighten Americans 13:21, 03/07/2007
As Aliaksandar Lukashenka said today at a meeting with Venezuelan leader Hugo Chavez, Belarus and Venezuela are to hold tense cooperation in the spheres of trade, economy, science, technology as well as in the military sphere. The Belarusian Head also claimed views of Belarus and Venezuela on the global system and international problems are “absolutely identical”.
Aliaksandar Lukashenka emphasized the parties had found certain solutions for the problems of oil production, exports of Belarusian potash fertilizer, mine trucks and lorries, tractors. He added that the projects in seismological examination and technology, gasification, industry, architecture and building, agriculture and provisions are being implemented successfully. As the Belarusian President said these projects “have proved to be large-scale, and we have achieved it within just one year starting nearly from zero-point.”
Venezuelan leader Hugo Chavez, in his turn, gave a high esteem to the Venezuelan-Belarusian oil production projects.
Hugo Chavez is convinced that outer enemies hinder from the Belarusian-Venezuelan bilateral relations.
“We have many opponents and obstacles; firstly this is the empire that labels us as dictators,” - Chavez said. “We have brought our warmth and solidarity with Belarus; this is a part of our dignity.”
Chavez added that “there are few peoples such as Belarus that are pressed so hard.”
The Venezuelan leader congratulated Lukashenka on his being the head of this people. “I congratulate you that you lead it (the people) with dignity.” Chavez stressed the progress in the bilateral relations: “If we have managed to do so much within less than a year, how much will we do during the oncoming 20 years that we will govern.” Lukashenka replied: “Don’t frighten Americans.”
