For independent and free Belarus!
10:59, 03/07/2007

Today Belarus celebrates Day of Liberation of Minsk from Nazi invaders. A military parade, mass open air celebrations and concerts under a slogan “For independent Belarus!” are to be held in the capital of Belarus all day long. As we have informed, the organizing committee for celebration of Independence Day on July 27 has called upon supporters of the democratic forces to take an active part in celebration of the Day of Liberation from Nazi invaders.

“We all know the high cost the Belarusians had paid for liberation from fascism. It was a really huge contribution to the common Victory over the dark forces. Many our relatives perished in that war, and this day is undoubtedly important day in Belarusian history,” told the member of the organizing committee Zmitser Bandarenka.

It is stated in the address of the organizing committee on celebration of Independence Day July 27:

“The Belarusians are a peaceful nation. On July 3, 1941 they demonstrated to themselves and to the world their longing for Freedom. Belarus became a full-fledged founding member of the UN for heroic partisan struggle and active resistance to aggressors. Belarus received recognition and respect in the world. On July 3 Belarusians made another step to Independence. However, real Freedom and Independence were received by us 50 years later, after the Soviet Union collapse. On July 27, 1990 the Declaration of State sovereignty of Belarus was adopted. Belarus got all attributes of an independent state: its Constitution, state emblem and flag. The Belarusian language became a national language”.
