Last Friday a deputy of the 2nd convocation of the “chamber of representatives” and a former prisoner of “Vitsba-3” Syarhei Skrabets stated that he met two prisoners who had been released from Vitsebsk colony recently. They were serving sentence in the 1st detachment together with Alyaksandr Kazulin.

They are ready for protest measures of last resort.

Does Lukashenka ask for credit not to carry out reforms?

On June 29 at the talks with the prime minister of Belarus Syarhei Sidorski the Russian side has set forth new conditions for getting a state credit from Russia. Russia insists on Belarus’ changing budget policy in such a way that that credit would become the last one. Belarus hasn’t recounted gas deliveries price in budget yet. As it turned out, the sum requested by Belarusian government, has grown from $1.5 billion to $2 billion. The Charter’97 press center has asked the former head of the National bank of Belarus Stanislau Bahdankevich to comment on this report:

The Belarusian government submitted to the suspension of the country from the EU`s Generalised System of Preferences (GSP), as temporal charge d’affaires of Slovakia in Belarus Lubomir Rehak deems. “We can only regret that instead of considering the recommendations of the ILO the Belarusian part submitted the resolution, regarding the sanctions being minor,” - the head of the Slovakian diplomatic mission said at a press-conference held in Minsk.

Police laid an ambush in opposition activist’s apartment

On July 3, in Minsk, six Protestants - activists of the campaign for the right for liberty of conscience - were detained: member of the organization committee on the establishment of the Belarusian Christian Democracy (BCD) party Dzianis Sadouski, Tatsiana Usilovich, campaign’s press-secretary Siargey Lukanin, co-chairperson of the BCD organization committee Aliaksiey Shein and two minors - Yulia Koshaleva (14) and Feadora Adryieuskaya (16).

The Chairman of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe has invited co-chairmen of the Political Council of the united democratic forces to take part in the annual session o the Parliamentary Assembly which is to take place in Kyiv in July 5-9. Vintsuk Vyachorka, Syarhei Kalyakin, Anatol Lyabedzka, Anatol Lyaukovich and Alyaksandr Milinkevich have received invitations to take part in the session of a General Committee on General Affairs and Security on July 6. Issues of democratization of Belarus will be discussed there.

Prison sentence of political prisoner Artur Finkievich is still on

The department of sentence execution declined the complaint of Artur Finkievich against the refusal of his pre-term exoneration. The resolution was grounded on the supposedly inappropriate conduct of Finkievich.
